Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager to join our organisation. This pivotal role involves supporting the maintenance department in ensuring the optimal operation and upkeep of plant equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic environment, contributing to the continuous improvement of operational efficiency and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Assist the Maintenance Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising maintenance activities across the facility.
Oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to safety protocols.
Manage maintenance schedules, prioritising urgent repairs and routine inspections to minimise downtime.
Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
Utilise project management skills to oversee ongoing projects, including upgrades and installations of machinery or infrastructure.
Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings to facilitate troubleshooting and repairs.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment history for compliance and analysis purposes.
Support the development of preventative maintenance programmes aimed at reducing equipment failures.
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules.
Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Experience

Proven management or supervisory experience within a maintenance environment is essential.
Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully overseeing complex tasks from inception to completion.
Extensive mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience is highly desirable.
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their integration into industrial systems.
Ability to read schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings accurately.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with excellent organisational skills.
Experience supervising teams of technicians or contractors in a fast-paced setting.
Proficiency in English language communication is required for effective team coordination and reporting purposes.
