Full job description

Hall Farm Hotel & Restaurant is looking for an experienced Sous Chef / Senior Chef to join our kitchen team.

We're a busy hotel restaurant serving freshly prepared food, with a varied operation covering restaurant service, private functions and weddings. During peak season we can cater for up to two weddings per week, making this an ideal role for a chef who enjoys a busy kitchen and likes variety.

About the role

You'll work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team, helping to deliver consistently high-quality food across our restaurant and functions.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and cooking fresh food to a high standard
Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
Taking responsibility for kitchen service when required
Restaurant and function catering
Wedding catering, particularly during our busy summer season
Helping to maintain food quality, presentation and kitchen standards
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards

Working pattern

This is a 5-day-per-week permanent position, with Wednesday and Thursday normally being your days off.

The restaurant is open every day, although we don't serve lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays. The role therefore involves a mixture of daytime and evening services, as well as functions and weddings.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced chef who:

Has experience working in a quality restaurant, hotel or similar establishment
Is confident cooking fresh food from scratch
Can work calmly and efficiently during busy services
Takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food
Is reliable, organised and works well within a team
Is comfortable taking responsibility and supporting the Head Chef
Has previous Sous Chef experience, or is an experienced Chef de Partie / Senior Chef ready to take the next step

Own transport is essential due to our rural location.
