About Us

Exe-Changes Limited is a well-established provider of residential support for young people aged 16–18 under the care of the local authority. With 7 beds across 3 properties in Exeter, we are committed to preparing young people for independence at 18, while supporting their social, emotional, and mental health needs through a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.

Join Our Team as a Residential Support Worker (Full Time, Part Time, Bank)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? We are looking for dedicated, compassionate and resilient individuals to join our team as Residential Youth Support Workers. Please note: this role requires full flexibility to work a variety of shifts, days, nights, and weekends. Applicants must be able to commit to all shift types as part of a rota – this is essential to meet the needs of the people we support.

Flexible opportunities available:

Full-time: Average 35 hours per week over 2.25 days (including an average of 2 sleep-ins per week)

Part-time and bank roles also available – please indicate your availability when applying

Shift Patterns:

Day Shift: 07:45 – 17:00

Late Shift: 16:45 – 08:00

Double Shift: 07:45 – 23:30, followed by 07:15 – 08:00

Sleep-in: 23:30 – 07:15

Sleep-In Arrangements: Sleep-in shifts run from 23:30 to 07:15 and are not included in your contracted rota hours.
- If you are asleep during this period, you will receive a £75 sleep-in payment.
- If you are required to work during the sleep-in hours, you will be paid at your standard hourly rate for the time worked.

Skills and Knowledge

You'll need:

· Sensitivity and understanding

· The ability to work well with others

· Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

· Willingness to accept guidance and support, and remain effective in challenging situations

· Attention to detail and thoroughness

· Good interpersonal and customer service skills

· A genuine desire to help and support young people

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Ability to carry out basic tasks using a computer or hand-held device

· Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (CYP) or a willingness to work towards it

Day-to-Day Tasks

In this role, you will:

· Support the individual needs and progress of the young people

· Provide advice, guidance, and support with all aspects of their lives

· Teach daily living skills like budgeting, shopping, and accessing their entitlements

· Provide leisure and creative activities in a safe and supportive setting

· Help young people to deal with problems and become independent

· Communicate with professionals, families, and attend meetings as required

· Promote health, well-being, and education/employment opportunities to help young people reach their full potential

· Treating everyone with dignity and respect

· Ensuring the service remains free from bullying and prejudice

· Teamwork and lone working

· Adhering to quality standards, policies, and procedures

Additional Responsibilities

· Help young people provide feedback and ensure their voice is heard in their care and support

· Support young people to reduce behaviours that put them at risk, such as going missing or being exploited

· Ensure all records are completed to a high standard before the end of each shift, and contribute to reports for senior leadership, reviews, and care planning

· Participate in household routines such as cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the environment, while supporting young people to do the same

· Undertake required training and take responsibility for ongoing professional development

· Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision, and annual appraisals

· Follow all health and safety and workplace policies
