Job Summary

To lead shifts effectively, provide operational oversight of the home and support the

management team in delivering safe, high-quality care and positive outcomes for children

and young people.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Lead shifts and ensure safe staffing levels are maintained at all times.
Provide leadership, guidance and support to Residential Children's Care Workers.
Ensure the home operates in accordance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
Oversee safeguarding practices and ensure concerns are escalated appropriately.
Manage incidents, behavioural challenges and emergency situations.
Ensure accurate completion of records, reports and documentation.
Support implementation and review of care plans and risk assessments.
Conduct medication audits and ensure safe medication practices are maintained.
Monitor standards of care and professional practice across the team.
Support induction and mentoring of new employees.
Participate in staff development and coaching activities.
Assist with supervisions and competency assessments where delegated.
Liaise with social workers, education providers, families and external agencies.
Participate in audits and quality assurance activities.
Support the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager with service improvements and action plans.
Promote a positive culture and act as a role model for staff.
Contribute towards preparation for inspections and monitoring visits.

Qualifications

Hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or be willing to undertake and successfully complete the qualification within the required timescales.

On-Call Requirement

Participation in the organisation's on-call rota is a contractual requirement of the role.
Post holders are expected to participate in the on-call rota for up to seven days per month.
The post holder must be able to provide management advice, guidance and decision-making support outside normal working hours.
