Accounts Assistant

£26,000 - £34,000 (depending on qualifications, ability and experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounts payable experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the purchase ledger and supporting the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently.
Manage invoice approval workflows and ensure all transactions are appropriately authorised.
Reconcile supplier accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
Maintain accurate supplier records and update finance systems as required.
Complete regular bank reconciliations.
Respond professionally to internal and external finance queries.
Raise ad hoc sales invoices and provide support with other finance-related tasks as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

· AAT qualified (or be qualified by experience).

· Previous experience in an Accounts Payable, Bookeeping or similar finance role.

· A good understanding of accounting principles and purchase ledger processes.

· Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

· Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.

· Good communication skills and confidence dealing with colleagues, suppliers, and customers in a professional manner.

· A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn and develop.

· Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

· Experience using finance software; Sage experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

· The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a finance team.
