Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Shopkeeper/Manager to oversee daily operations of our convenience store and post office. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage sales, performance, customer service and ensure the smooth running of the shop.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the convenience store and post office, ensuring smooth running of sales, customer service, stock control, and cash handling activities.
Develop and implement strategies to increase sales, improve customer satisfaction, and drive footfall to achieve business targets.
Introduce new products based on customer demand and market trends, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff to maintain high performance and excellent customer service standards.
Monitor sales performance, analyze customer trends, and identify opportunities for promotions and business growth.
Manage inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and place orders to ensure product availability while minimizing waste.
Prepare staff rotas and schedules to ensure adequate store coverage and efficient workforce management.
Control and monitor store budgets, expenses, and daily takings to achieve financial objectives.
Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and concerns professionally and promptly, ensuring satisfactory resolutions.
Ensure a clean, safe, and well-presented store environment is maintained at all times.
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and local authorities as required to ensure smooth store operations.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and legal requirements.
Monitor and maintain high standards of product quality, customer service, and store presentation.
Manage all Post Office operations, including daily cash handling, reconciliation, and customer transactions.
Provide professional customer service for Post Office products and services while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and regulations.
Support business growth initiatives and contribute to the overall profitability of the store.

Qualifications and Requirement

Proven management experience within retail or a similar customer-facing environment is preferable.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and time management capabilities.
Effective communication skills; Fluent English (written and spoken)
Organisational skills that support efficient shop operations and stock control.
Previous experience in retail management or supervisory roles is preferred but not essential for highly motivated candidates willing to learn on the job.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
