Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Fabrication Workshop Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the fabrication process by assisting with cutting, assembling, and finishing metal components. Your energy and mechanical aptitude will contribute to efficient workshop operations, ensuring high-quality production standards are met. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop hands-on skills in fabrication and welding within a collaborative environment.

Duties

Assist with the preparation and setup of fabrication tasks, including measuring and marking sheet metal and other materials
Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment under supervision to support assembly and fabrication projects
Support TIG welding and welding processes, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
Help with the handling and organization of raw materials, components, and finished products within the workshop
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and proper tool storage procedures
Assist in the inspection of fabricated parts for quality control, ensuring they meet specified dimensions and standards
Support team members in assembly tasks, including fitting, fastening, and finishing metal components

Requirements

Basic mechanical knowledge with familiarity of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
Experience or training in TIG welding or welding is highly desirable
Ability to read basic measurements and perform simple math calculations for fabrication tasks
Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality standards
Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks effectively
Knowledge of sheet metal handling, fabrication techniques, and assembly processes is a plus
Willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively within a team environment
