Ward Catering Assistant

Nuffield Health York Hospital, Haxby Road, Clifton, York YO31 8TA

£12.71 per hour + Sodexo Benefits
18 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 3 days out of 7, including weekend work
Shift Times : 6 hour shifts within hours of 7:00 am - 8:00 pm | Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Parking on site / Meal on shift / Uniform provided / gym discount
Permanent contract

Job Introduction

As a Ward Catering Assistant with Sodexo at Nuffield Health York Hospital, you’ll play an important role in delivering delicious meals and a positive experience to patients, staff, and visitors. Your cheerful attitude and friendly interactions can brighten someone’s day and bring comfort during challenging times.

What You’ll Do:

Deliver a friendly, high-quality meal service to patients, ensuring dignity, care and excellent customer service.
Prepare, assemble and serve patient meals accurately, including special dietary requirements.
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection prevention in line with hospital and company policies.
Complete food temperature checks, quality records and other required documentation accurately.
Keep ward kitchens, catering equipment and work areas clean, safe and well stocked.
Support stock rotation, waste reduction and the safe transportation of food trolleys.
Work as part of a team, following instructions and helping with other catering duties as required

What You Bring:

Previous experience in a similar role or willingness to learn
A positive, reliable and caring approach, with a genuine desire to provide excellent service to patients.
Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work efficiently.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
Good timekeeping, reliability and a flexible approach to supporting the team.
A willingness to learn and complete required training, including maintaining mandatory standards.
A Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this.
