Full job description

Overview
Due to a change in circumstance, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team and an additional Sous Chef to join the team. The ideal candidate for the head chef position will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary expertise ideally in a care home setting, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing the entire kitchen operation, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation, while fostering a positive and efficient work environment. The Head Chef will play a key role in menu development, staff supervision, and maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for excellence.

The Sous Chef will work alongside an existing Sous Chef assisting the Head Chef with kitchen operations, management, menu development, menu development while ensuring high culinary standards.

Responsibilities

Head Chef to lead and manage the kitchen team by example, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring smooth daily operations
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to uphold quality standards and consistency
Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management that reflect current culinary trends and the residents preferences
Supervise food production to ensure timely service without compromising quality or safety
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen activities
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
Train and mentor staff to enhance their skills, promote teamwork, and ensure compliance with health and safety policies
Monitor kitchen performance metrics using Centrim Life and implement improvements as necessary
Uphold the restaurant’s brand standards through presentation, taste, and overall dining experience
Qualifications
Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant, hospitality environment, ideally in a care home setting
Culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation
Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
Solid knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
Experience in menu development, cooking techniques, and restaurant operations
Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to organise workload efficiently under pressure
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
Formal culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are desirable
