Sous Chef - New Opening

Siren City Bars, Cheltenham (The Brewery Quarter)

Siren Craft Brew has been at the forefront of the UK craft beer movement since 2013, consistently ranked among the world's top 100 breweries on RateBeer. We are bold, flavorful and uncompromising, and that spirit runs through everything we do, including our bars and pubs.

Siren City Bars is our growing hospitality arm, operating a collection of distinctive venues that share our passion for great beer, exceptional hospitality and genuine community. We are bringing that same energy to Cheltenham, and we're looking for a sous chef to engage in a friendly, creative and inclusive team, full of people who care about what they do.

Job Specifics

· Total package: up to £37,000 per annum (base + tronc)

· Base salary: up to £33,000 (dependent on experience)

· Tronc: £4,000–£7,000 per annum

· Location: Cheltenham

· Contract: Full-time, permanent

· Hours: 45 hours per week (including weekends and evenings)

· Reporting to: Head Chef

· Site opening in September

The Role

We are looking for an individual who shares the same passion for food that we do for beer. This role isn’t an ordinary senior sous chef position – we are looking for a creatively minded individual, with proven leadership skills and an ambition to drive the business forward.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, craft-led environment and knows how to maintain high standards. Working closely with the management team you will deliver a brilliant guest experience

We are looking for a professional chef who can produce menu and food items to meet the standards of the Head Chef with the aim of delighting and surprising our customers, on time and in the quantities needed.

Key areas of responsibility

Foster a positive, inclusive team culture which aligns with Siren's values
Maintain and go above the established standards of food hygiene, cleaning and food handling which meet current standards of legislation and compliance
Following the guidance of the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of all menu dishes and other products made within the kitchen
Optimize the cooking processes with attention to speed, quality and delivery
Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards and maintaining impeccable quality standards within the kitchen and service areas at all times, including overseeing a weekly deep cleaning schedule
Being part of a climate of smooth and friendly team as a whole
Appreciation of the importance of achieving agreed gross margin, the pricing of dishes, from order to execution
Compliance with all legislation and store operating guidelines

Requirements:

Proven experience and responsibility in a busy, fast paced kitchen
Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
Knowledge of best cooking practices and understanding of trends and new styles
Attention to detail and high standards of presentation, creative flair and imagination
Able to work effectively as part of a team with a open minded positive attitude and a willingness to continually improve
