Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and organised Shop and Post Office Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, managing postal transactions, and supporting retail operations within our store. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be multilingual if possible, and demonstrate a keen eye for organisation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your organisational and interpersonal skills will be valued.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist with their postal and retail needs
Process postal transactions accurately, including weighing parcels, selling stamps, and managing postage options
Handle cash, card payments, and perform basic maths calculations efficiently
Support merchandising efforts by organising products on shelves and maintaining visual appeal
Upsell additional services or products to maximise sales opportunities
Provide information about postal services, products, and store promotions using clear communication skills
Maintain a clean and organised workspace to ensure safety and efficiency
Manage phone enquiries professionally, adhering to proper phone etiquette
Assist with stock replenishment and inventory management as needed
Support organisational tasks such as scheduling deliveries or coordinating with courier services

Requirements

Fluency in English; proficiency in welsh is highly desirable
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Experience in merchandising or retail is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Good time management skills to ensure efficient workflow during busy periods
Ability to provide friendly customer service with professional phone etiquette
Proven organisational skills with attention to detail in managing stock and paperwork
Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment
