*Shift Patterns*

We have the following shift patterns available:

24.5 hours shifts - 7:30am - 8am the following morning (sleeping in at midnight): £311.40 per shift

14 hours shifts - 7:30am - 9:30pm: £177.94 per shift

11 hours shifts - 9pm - 8am (waking night): £170.50 per shift

*Full Job Description*

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Support Worker to join our team. They must share our passion in providing a nurturing and supportive approach to the care of young people, whilst promoting and maintaining our expectation of high standards and good practices.

*The Home*

The children’s home is in Bedford and provides accommodation to 3 children/young people of both genders and ages 11-17 with EBD.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Support Worker who can demonstrate the ability to provide the highest quality care for children & young people;

*The Individual Requirements*

Ability to take responsibility as a Senior Support Worker and provide positive role modelling, encouraging young people to have healthy relationships and enabling them to build trust.

Follow each Individual Behaviour Management Plan, Risk Assessment and Care Plan to safeguard our young people and encourage them to behave in a socially acceptable manner.

To have a flexible approach to working hours, to ensure the needs of the home and its children, colleagues, and organisation are met.

To hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or equivalent.

Previous experience of working with young people in a youth work or residential setting is essential.

Experience of working with young people affected by communication disorders and challenging behaviours.

*Responsibilities of Senior Support Worker*

Purpose

Support workers are required to attend to the overall task in a thoughtful manner and are required to work within a comprehensive regulatory framework.

Responsibilities

1. Promoting wellbeing and helping children and young people to achieve their potential;

Develop practices and work responsively to support children in achieving their potential.
Engage with the children in pursuing education, leisure activities, hobbies, and interests.
To participate in the development and implementation of individual treatment/placement plans for the children.
Support children to manage themselves and their behaviours enabling them to recognise the impact of their actions on themselves and others.
Adhere to the philosophy of care and work within the guidelines and practice principles identified by Willow.
Adhere to all safeguarding requirements and ensure any potential concerns are reported immediately.
Provide exceptional primary care as appropriate, ensuring that all the children are living in an environment which promotes their sense of worth and well-being.
To be the Key Worker for specific children, as matched by the Manager.
To assist with the on-call duties, in the absence of the Manager.
To oversee the young people’s files and ensure that information is recorded accurately and regularly.
To oversee key worker paperwork and duties, and ensure that they are completed to a high standard.

2. Relationships with children/young people

Develop safe, professional supportive and nurturing relationships with the children.
Implement Willow’s approach to ‘parenting’ in residential childcare.
Demonstrate at all times a clear understanding of personal and professional boundaries.
Support the child’s relationships with other significant people in their lives by fostering a positive/professional approach.
Understand the range of challenging behaviours presented by the children and use positive behaviour management approaches to respond.

To be a strong role model, and encourage and support your team to have strong relationships with the young people.

3. Working as part of a team and with others

Work together with others as a whole to ensure continuity in care and positive team dynamics.
Fulfil shared and specific responsibilities within the team.
Communicate appropriately and share information effectively.
Provide appropriate support and constructive feedback to others.
Contribute to team meetings and dynamic groups.
Maintain and promote good relationships with team members, management, external professional networks and the home’s neighbours.
Support with staff inductions.
Lead and motivate the team.
Actively contribute to team meetings.
Supervise your team in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.

4. Legislation, policies and procedures

Promote, practice and adhere to all policies, procedures and instructions.
Support management in ensuring the home can demonstrate that it meets the Quality standards for children’s homes.

Work within the legal framework for children and young people.

Maintain the highest standards of record keeping in line with the Children’s homes regulations, other legislation in relation to care planning and Willow’s internal recording processes.

To positively contribute to the care planning process of the children residing at Willow.

5. General

To undertake specific pieces of work with the children as directed.
To participate in individual supervision, training and staff development opportunities as offered.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by management.
