Full job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our Ofsted-registered Children's Home. This is a key role within the home, supporting the day-to-day running of the service while providing high-quality care and guidance to children and young people. You will act as a role model for the wider team, lead shifts, promote best practice and help ensure the home consistently meets Ofsted standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential childcare, excellent leadership skills, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Lead shifts and support the day-to-day operation of the children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans, promoting the emotional, social, and behavioural development of children and young people.
Support, mentor, and guide Residential Support Workers, providing leadership and promoting good practice.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times, recognising and responding appropriately to any concerns.
Build positive and trusting relationships with children, acting as a consistent role model and advocate.
Support children with daily living activities, including education, appointments, personal care, recreational activities, and independent living skills.
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records, including daily logs, incident reports, risk assessments, and care documentation.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and regular review of care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments.
Liaise effectively with social workers, families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other external agencies.
Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that enables children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.

Requirements

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification) is essential.
Proven experience working within a residential children's home, with experience in a senior or shift-leading role.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and children's home regulations.
Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
Competent in using IT systems for recording and reporting.
Full UK driving licence is preferred.
Flexible to work a rota including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins, and bank holidays.
