Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Room Leader Nursery Nurse to oversee and support the daily operations of our nursery’s youngest children. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes early childhood development. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to lead a team, implement educational programmes, and ensure the well-being of all children in their care. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with extensive experience working with children in a nursery setting.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of nursery staff, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained at all times
Plan, organise, and implement age-appropriate activities that support early childhood development
Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow
Monitor individual children's progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their development
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures within the nursery
Support staff training and professional development initiatives to enhance team performance
Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, development milestones, and other relevant documentation
Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with nursery policies
Assist with daily operational tasks including meal times, nappy changes, and general supervision

Requirements

Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
Extensive experience working with children, particularly in early childhood education or childcare roles
Strong understanding of nursery practices, child development stages, and early years curriculum frameworks
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent)
Valid safeguarding training certification is desirable
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating initiative and organisational skills
Driving licence is advantageous for travel between nursery locations or community outreach activities

Probation Period

6 Months during which time probationary assessments must be passed, digital training programmes completed and positive peer review secured.

Notice Period

9 Weeks written notice.

Pay: £24,784.50-£27,500.00 per year
