Full job description

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.

Please note that this role requires either previous experience working as a Director of Inclusion or knowledge and experience operating at this level.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS (THE CHILDREN’S ACT 1989)

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POST

As a strategic leader within Warwickshire College Group (WCG), the Director of Inclusion will drive a whole-college approach to inclusion strategies across all 5 college sites, ensuring that every learner has the best possible opportunity to achieve. This role does not oversee direct teaching delivery, but instead focuses on

designing, embedding, and monitoring the institutional frameworks that remove predictable barriers to learning.

The post holder will provide direct leadership and line management to the High Needs, Inclusion and Accessibility Teams. The role holds overall accountability for the strategic management of high needs funding and WCG’s allocated proportion of the national £1.6 billion Inclusive Mainstream Fund (IMF).

With Inclusion serving as the definitive leadership test in education inspection, the post holder will be a forward-thinking strategist. They will leverage hard data to ensure diverse learner groups achieve, belong, and thrive. By aligning college operations with the updated Ofsted Inclusion Framework, the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, and the Education and Inspections Act 2006, the Director will aim to secure recognition for exemplary leadership and practice across all campuses.

The post holder will report to the Vice Principal for Curriculum Planning, Performance & Skills.

OFFERS OF WORK

Essential Attainments:

✓ Educated to degree level or equivalent standard.

Essential Key Experience and Attributes:

✓Significant experience of managing, allocating, and optimising high needs funding within a further education college or a similar complex educational setting.

✓Proven track record of direct involvement with Ofsted inspections, with a deep understanding of the Ofsted Inclusion Framework and inspection expectations.

✓Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary staff teams, specifically including high needs, inclusion, or accessibility specialists.

✓Experience of developing and executing inclusion strategies across a multi-site or multi-campus educational organisation.

✓Strong capability in interpreting and acting upon hard data to track, measure, and improve student inclusion and performance outcomes.

✓Thorough knowledge of relevant statutory frameworks and legislation, including the Equality Act and the Education and Inspections Act 2006.
