Job Introduction

Fixed Term Contract: 2 Years

At Solihull Council, we're committed to providing a warm welcome and helping families arriving through refugee resettlement programmes to thrive. We're looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Resettlement Caseworker to join our dedicated Resettlement Team and play a vital role in supporting Afghan families as they start a new chapter in Solihull.

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of individuals and families who have experienced displacement and significant life challenges.

Working directly with Afghan households, you will provide intensive, person-centred support from arrival through to long-term integration. You'll help families access housing, healthcare, education, employment opportunities and community networks, enabling them to gain confidence, independence and a sense of belonging in their new community.

No two days will be the same. You'll manage your own caseload, coordinate support from a wide range of services and partners, advocate on behalf of families where needed, and help overcome barriers that may prevent successful integration.

About You

We're looking for someone with the experience, empathy and determination to support people facing complex challenges.

You will have:

Significant experience in a support, casework, keyworker or similar role working with vulnerable individuals or families.
Experience of working effectively with a range of partners across statutory, community and voluntary sector organisations.
Knowledge of asylum, immigration and refugee resettlement practice and/or legislation.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
A strong understanding of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people.

Whilst experience of working with refugee or migrant communities is not essential, it would be advantageous.
