The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Protecting patients, staff, visitors, property, and assets across Trust sites.
Assisting in the prevention and detection of crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour.
Conducting proactive internal and external patrols.
Securing Trust buildings and premises.
Responding promptly and effectively to security incidents and emergencies, including fire alarms and fire-related incidents.
Supporting clinical teams through bedside security duties when required.
Managing challenging situations involving patients, visitors, and members of the public using conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
Carrying out general car parking and traffic management duties.
Responding to all Trust security and fire alerts in a timely and professional manner.
Completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records.
Working collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to maintain a safe environment.
You will demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, and a positive “can-do” attitude, alongside a professional appearance and courteous manner.
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week on a 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern, covering operational requirements across both Preston and Chorley Hospital sites.
The role includes:
Days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Working across both hospital sites and other Trust locations when required.

As a Band 3 Security Officer, working this shift pattern, you can expect on-target earnings of approximately £32,000 per annum, including applicable enhancements, with additional opportunities to increase earnings through overtime on an Ad Hoc (ADOC) basis.
Role Summary
No previous security experience necessary – full training will be provided. We are looking for motivated individuals who are keen to learn and develop a career in healthcare security. Full comprehensive training and ongoing development will be provided, equipping successful candidates with all the knowledge and skills required to perform the role effectively within the NHS healthcare environment.
To provide a comprehensive 24/7 frontline security service to the Trust across its main hospital sites and other Trust locations as required.
The post holder will contribute to the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour, ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, property, and assets.
Security Officers will be based primarily at either Preston or Chorley Hospital but will be expected to work across both sites and other Trust locations as operationally required.
The post holder will respond promptly and professionally to all Trust security and fire-related incidents and alerts.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical staff, patients, visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
Respond promptly and professionally to all security incidents and emergencies.
Respond to fire alarms and fire-related incidents in accordance with Trust procedures.
Undertake proactive patrols of internal and external areas.
Provide bedside security support to clinical teams when required.
Maintain the security of Trust buildings, property, and assets.
Monitor and report suspicious activity, criminal behaviour, and security breaches.
Assist with investigations and evidence gathering where appropriate.
Complete accurate reports and documentation.
Support the delivery of a safe and secure environment across all Trust sites.
Maintain and develop professional competencies through training and continuous development.
Support the training and development of other staff where required.
Adhere to all Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Security, and Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Work collaboratively as part of a professional security team committed to high standards of service delivery.
