Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Part-time Shop Assistant/Cashier to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic retail environment and possess strong communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing transactions, and supporting merchandising activities. Fluency in multiple languages, particularly English and Spanish, is highly desirable to assist a diverse customer base. This position is ideal for organised, personable individuals looking to develop their retail experience within a supportive team.

Duties

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases in a professional manner
Operate the cash register accurately, handling cash, card payments, and receipts
Provide information about products and services, upselling where appropriate to enhance sales
Maintain the organisation and presentation of merchandise on shelves and displays
Answer customer queries via phone or in person with excellent phone etiquette
Manage stock levels and assist with stock replenishment as needed
Ensure the shop floor remains clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times
Support organisational tasks such as inventory checks and merchandising displays
Assist with general store operations to ensure smooth daily functioning

Experience

Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plus
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
Organised with good time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively
Ability to demonstrate organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for engaging with customers
Experience in upselling products or services to maximise sales opportunities is desirable
