Full job description

Property: COMO Metropolitan London

Position: Finance Assistant

Base Location: London

Department: Finance

Reporting to: Cluster Director of Finance

Tasks/Responsibilities:

Assist with daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, general cashier, and general ledger functions.
Verify, process, and record invoices, payments and journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
Process supplier payments and employee reimbursements according to approved procedures.
Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements and balance sheet accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and preparation of month-end journals.
Prepare, maintain and file financial records, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Coordinate with other departments to resolve financial queries.
Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
Ensure proper use of hotel accounting systems, property management systems (PMS), and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, PCI requirements, VAT regulations and fraud prevention procedures.
Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Assistant Finance Manager, the Financial Controller, or Hotel Management.

Job Requirements:

Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is desirable; experience within the hospitality industry is an advantage.
A finance qualification or studying towards AAT (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; knowledge of purchasing System (BirchStreet), Opera PMS, and hotel accounting systems (SunSystem or similar) is desirable.
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to prioritise tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
Well-developed organisational and record-keeping skills.
Professional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
