Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Yard Operative to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the yard, ensuring materials are handled efficiently and safely. Your energetic approach will help keep the yard organised, support shipping and receiving activities, and contribute to a productive work environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in warehouse operations, materials handling, and mechanical equipment use within a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

Safely load and unload materials using forklifts and manual handling techniques
Assist with the movement and storage of goods within the yard, ensuring proper placement and organisation
Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as forklifts and mechanical tools to ensure safety and functionality
Support shipping and receiving processes by preparing items for dispatch or receipt
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency

Requirements

Proven experience operating forklifts with valid certification preferred
Previous warehouse experience is highly desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Strong materials handling skills with attention to safety protocols
Good communication skills and a proactive attitude towards teamwork
