Job Overview

The Emporium is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our vibrant team. This role is vital in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. The successful candidate will support the culinary team by handling basic food preparation tasks, assisting with kitchen maintenance, and upholding high standards of hygiene and safety. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in a busy restaurant environment.

Duties

Responsible for cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces to meet health and safety standards.
Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of chefs or kitchen managers.
Ensure all dishes, cookware, and kitchen tools are properly stored and organised.
Support the team during service by replenishing supplies and ensuring cleanliness of work areas.
Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with company policies.
Maintain a tidy and organised workspace at all times to promote a safe working environment.
Follow strict hygiene protocols and health & safety regulations throughout all duties.

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures and hygiene standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and hospitality services.
Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the busy restaurant environment.
