The Childrens Social Care and Lifelong Learning Service are looking to appoint a part time, Business Support Assistant within Gateshead’s Family Hubs on a permanent basis. Gateshead's Family Hubs provide a welcoming space for families and the wider community. Our Family Hubs support families from conception to the age of two to give all children the best start in life. We continue to support families of children up the age of 19 and to age 25 for young people who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

What you will get to do

Provide administrative support across Family Hub functions to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Deliver a high standard of customer service to the public, both facetoface and through a range of communication channels.
Plan, operate and review the room booking system for colleagues and external partners.
Oversee the raising of purchase orders, process invoices, manage goods received, raise debtor invoices and maintain accurate manual and electronic records and reports in line with financial requirements.
Support and assist in the administration of internal meetings and meetings with external partners and stakeholders.
Support the planning, delivery and review of promotional and communication activities to publicise the Family Hub offer.
Assist with the completion of data returns and evaluation activities in line with reporting requirements.
Provide reception support across various community locations.
Support the consultation of children and families to ensure their views inform the planning and evaluation of activities.
Provide support and advice to Toy Library customers on available equipment.
Assist with the storage and maintenance of equipment, ensuring high standards and availability of resources.
Provide support and training to volunteers when required.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Play a key role in supporting local families across Gateshead.

What you will bring

Be educated to NVQ Level in a relevant discipline, or willingness to work towards this, or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
Ability to prioritise your own workload and manage tasks effectively.
Strong IT skills, including use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internal systems/databases.
Excellent customer service skills with experience providing facetoface support to the public.
Effective communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines consistently.
