Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced cafe assistant to join our small family coffee shop. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service, barista skills, and excellent customer service. This role involves preparing and serving beverages and food items, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all customers. The successful applicant will be organised, efficient, and passionate about delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including specialised coffee drinks, adhering to company standards.
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, and other light fare.
Serve customers efficiently and courteously, taking orders accurately and handling transactions using the point-of-sale system.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including counters, equipment, and seating areas.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at all times.
Manage stock levels and restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts.
Handle customer enquiries professionally and resolve any issues promptly to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery.

Requirements

Proven experience as a cafe assistant or barista within a busy environment.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
Strong barista skills with the ability to prepare a variety of coffee beverages confidently.
Experience in serving customers with excellent communication skills.
Ability to assist with food preparation tasks efficiently while maintaining hygiene standards.
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
Good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during peak hours.
Organised with a keen eye for detail to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
Flexibility to work during peak hours including weekends if required.
