About Abbey's Spice Company

Abbey's Spice Company is an authentic Nigerian restaurant serving freshly prepared, home-style dishes to our local community. We're a growing independent business with ambitious plans, and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef or kitchen professional looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will begin as a Chef / Kitchen Supervisor with the opportunity to progress into a Kitchen Lead role as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook authentic Nigerian dishes to a consistently high standard.
Lead the kitchen during service and support junior team members.
Assist with daily food preparation and batch cooking.
Ensure food is presented consistently and served efficiently.
Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
Support stock rotation, inventory checks and ordering.
Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
Train and support new members of the kitchen team.
Work closely with the owners to continually improve kitchen operations.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen.
Strong understanding of food hygiene and food safety.
Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

Experience preparing Nigerian or West African cuisine.
Experience supervising or leading a kitchen team.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
