Craobh-Kroov is a thriving independent restaurant in the heart of Crieff, with excellent transport links to Perth and Stirling.

As we continue to grow and expand towards a 70-cover operation, we're looking for an ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help shape the next chapter of the business.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef looking to take the next step in their career.

Working alongside our Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of a busy, fresh-food kitchen.

You'll be trusted to run the kitchen independently for 2–4 shifts each week, taking responsibility for service, organisation, food quality and team leadership during those shifts.

For the remainder of your shifts, you'll work closely with the wider kitchen team to deliver consistently high standards and help drive the business forward.

We're particularly interested in chefs who have experience working in a small, busy, made-to-order kitchen, where organisation, consistency and the ability to manage several things at once are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Running the kitchen independently during designated shifts
Leading service and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
Preparing and delivering high-quality dishes to a consistently high standard
Supporting stock control, ordering and waste management
Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials
Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
Supporting the training and development of junior team members
Working closely with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to continually improve systems and standards
Contributing positively to a strong team culture and working environment

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie or similar role
Proven experience in a busy, fresh-food, made-to-order kitchen
Confidence leading a service and making decisions independently
Strong organisational and communication skills
A genuine passion for quality food and hospitality
A solid understanding of food safety and kitchen management
A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Someone who thrives in a small team environment where everyone contributes

We're not looking for someone simply because they have a job title that says "Sous Chef."

We're looking for someone who has the practical experience and consistency required to operate a busy made-to-order kitchen, while having the ambition to continue developing their leadership skills.

What We OfferExcellent Earning Potential

£36,000 salary based on a 45-hour working week
£6,500–£8,000 per year in shared tips/tronc
£42,500–£44,000+ typical total annual earnings

Our tips are shared fairly based on hours worked, meaning everyone who contributes to the restaurant's success benefits from it.

A Genuine 4-Day Working Week

We operate a 45-hour working week across 4 days.

We understand that hospitality can make planning your life difficult, so we work hard to keep the working week predictable.

4-day working week
Straight shifts only
No split shifts
No unexpected half-days
Well-managed TOIL system
Additional shifts are occasionally requested when required, rather than being an expectation of the role

As the business continues to grow towards 70 covers, our aim is to make the 4-day working week an increasingly established part of how we operate.

Probationary Period

All successful applicants will be subject to a probationary period of up to 12 weeks.

This gives both you and us the opportunity to make sure the role is the right fit. During this period, we will assess your suitability for the position, including your ability to meet the standards expected of the role, work effectively within the kitchen team, and consistently carry out the responsibilities outlined above.

We will provide feedback and support throughout the probationary period, with the aim of ensuring that successful candidates are given every opportunity to settle into the role and succeed.
