Program Coordinator – Global Health Policy

Job title: Program Coordinator – Global Health
Location: London, UK
Salary: £32,550 per annum

Role: The Center for Global Development (CGD) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC and London, UK that focuses on the issues and institutions that are critical to inclusive development. Through rigorous empirical research and active engagement with the global policy community, we focus on the policy intersections of low- and middle-income countries and the governments, institutions, and corporations that can be partners in delivering greater progress.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong writing skills across a variety of platforms and experience in administrative coordination. The successful candidate will have responsibility for providing administrative, events, and communications support across the Global Health Policy team, including processing expenses and invoices and supporting travel arrangements across CGD and CGDE offices. Working closely with the Operations team, the candidate will support the design and management of sub-contract agreements and small projects.

Line Manager: Reports to Program Manager

Other key working relationships: Senior Communications Manager, Program Director, Operations team, CGD Communications team

Responsibilities include:

Program support:

Support the Program Manager on program administration, including tracking progress of outputs and deliverables for the Global Health Policy program workstreams
In consultation with the Program Manager and the central Finance and Operations team, support the management of sub-contracts, carrying out due diligence and monitoring the performance of partners, as required
Maintain shared program folders, contract tracker, and the internal output trackers, ensuring information is accurate and easily accessible.
Plan and organize logistics for all internal and external Global Health Policy meetings and events, both virtual and in-person, acting as a point of contact for attendees, taking minutes, and scheduling and preparing agendas for monthly team meetings, as necessary
Process invoices and expenses for external consultants and partners, following up with the CGDE and CGD Finance and Operations team as required
Support the Program Manager in drafting, reviewing, or updating operational processes. Test and implement new processes as needed
Support the Program Manager on the preparation and coordination of annual progress reporting to funders
Attend monthly Coordinators' meetings, supporting the dissemination of relevant operational information to the wider Global Health Policy team
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of parties involved in projects, including CGDE staff, national and international consultants and academics, clients and research partners, and key donor partners
Travel may be required, subject to government advice and guidance
Perform other duties within the range of skills and abilities of the post holder, as necessary in support of the team

Communications support, under the guidance of the Senior Communications Manager:

Maintain media/press contact lists
Proof a range of communications materials, including press releases and website content, and draft global health newsletters.
Help draft engaging copy for social and digital channels, ensuring content is aligned with CGD's voice
Support the planning and delivery of communications activities by assisting with editorial calendars and forward scheduling
Prepare quarterly communications evaluations by collecting data and preparing PowerPoint reports
Prepare information on Global Health policy team activities for the monthly Board updates and bi-annual Board reports, working with the CGD Communications Team

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (for example Management, Business, Communications, Public Health, International Development)
Highly organized with a methodical approach to tasks and excellent attention to detail
Ability to effectively plan and manage tasks and projects with a high degree of autonomy
Excellent communication and writing skills in English, with experience of editing and/or proof reading
Strong MS Excel skills, and comfort working with CRM, such as Salesforce
Confidence, flexibility, can-do attitude, and intellectual curiosity in a demanding and fast-paced environment
Interest in global health, public policy, international development, or related fields

Desirable:

Professional experience of working in public/global health, development or charitable sectors
Experience of managing international travel arrangements and of coordinating logistics for large events
Experience of administrating projects with multiple partners and stakeholders
Experience of drafting and managing sub-contract specifications and agreements, and of building excellent working relationships with partners to ensure the successful delivery of project outputs
Experience working with large multinational donors or foundations is a plus
Experience of social media content creation or working at a student newspaper

This is a full-time position based in London, and applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

The role is based in London and the post-holder will be expected to spend a minimum of three days a week in the office. One of these days is set by the Programme Director, currently Tuesday and Thursday; and there is a monthly face-to-face all-office team lunch, usually on Tues, Weds or Thursday.
