Kitchen Assistant – Hollymount Dementia Care Centre

About the role
Hollymount Dementia Care Centre is looking for a friendly and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This role offers flexible daytime hours, perfect for someone who values work–life balance. Typical shifts run from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, with flexibility around our Breakfast Club times.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our chefs and cooks with meal preparation, organisation, and service. You’ll also help create a welcoming dining experience for our residents by serving meals and assisting front of house during meal times.

What does a typical day look like?
Working under the guidance of our Cook or Chef Manager, you’ll ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and remains clean and safe. Every day brings variety, but your main responsibilities will include:

Serving food and drinks to residents
Preparing and delivering the residents’ brew and snack trolleys
Washing up or loading the dishwasher, ensuring items are stored correctly
Helping receive and store food supplies and ingredients
Assisting with meal preparation and food production
Supporting with waste management
Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining areas
Working closely with the kitchen team to keep everything running efficiently

Experienced in a kitchen or care environment (desirable, but not essential)

Flexible daytime shifts (8:00 am – 2:00 pm)
A minimum of 12 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime and holiday cover
Holiday pay and pension scheme
A supportive and welcoming team environment
Hourly rate of £13.45
