About the role

When someone contacts Adult Social Care, they're often having a difficult day. As a Business Support Officer within our Rural North & West Adult Social Care Team, you'll be one of the first people they speak to.

You'll be a key part of helping residents, family members and professionals access the right support, making sure important information reaches the right people and helping social work teams respond quickly and effectively when it's needed most.

Based at the Abbey Centre in Daventry, you'll join a friendly and supportive team who work with adults across the community, supporting people with a wide range of needs and vulnerabilities.

This is a fully office based part time role, working 18.5hrs per week.

Wednesday 1.30pm to 5.00pm

Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm

Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm

Interviews will be held on 25th-27th August 2026 in person.

What will you be doing?

As the Business Support Officer, you'll often be the first point of contact for people who may be worried about a loved one, struggling to cope themselves, concerned about someone's safety or looking for support during a difficult time. You'll listen carefully, gather important information and make sure those enquiries reach the right professionals as quickly as possible.

You'll work closely with social workers, managers and partner organisations, helping to keep vital services running smoothly behind the scenes. From supporting safeguarding meetings and recording important information, to coordinating communication across busy teams, you'll be helping ensure people don't fall through the cracks

You'll become the person who keeps things moving. Whether that's managing a busy inbox, coordinating meetings, producing minutes, updating records or making sure the right information reaches the right people, you'll play a key role in supporting the team. It's the sort of role where you'll quickly get to know what's happening across the service and become someone colleagues rely on to keep things organised, efficient and on track.

About you

We're not expecting you to be an expert in Adult Social Care.

You might come from an administration, customer service, healthcare, support work, housing, charity or public sector background. You may have experience supporting vulnerable people directly, or perhaps you've worked in a role where you've handled sensitive conversations and needed to stay calm under pressure.

We're looking for someone who can communicate well, stay organised and keep a level head when things get busy. You'll be comfortable talking to people from all walks of life, listening carefully, asking the right questions and making people feel heard, even when they're having a difficult day.

You'll also be confident using IT systems, managing information accurately and working proactively without needing constant direction. Experience supporting vulnerable people, dealing with safeguarding concerns, or working in health, care, housing or customer-focused environments would be helpful. It isn't essential, but you'll need to feel comfortable having conversations with people who may be facing difficult circumstances.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who's approachable, proactive and genuinely enjoys helping others. Someone who can bring calm to busy days, confidence to difficult conversations and be a reliable part of a team that helps people access the support they need.
