Job Purpose: As part of a team, the role of the Women’s Support Worker is to offer practical and emotional support with women who have experienced domestic abuse. The Women’s Support Worker is responsible for the delivery of services and related activities across the area.

Hours of Work 21 - 35 hours per week - to be agreed with successful applicant.

Salary £25,218 (pro rata)

Location Skye & Lochalsh

Key Outcomes:

Services will be delivered and developed in line with identified need in the community and in the refuge accommodation
The local communities will be aware of the services available
Other community organisations will be working alongside us to ensure women receive the best possible support

Key Activities:

Services will be delivered and developed in line with identified need in the community and in the refuge accommodation

Accept referrals and work with women to develop, implement and review support plans
Using a person-centered approach, listen to and provide support with women experiencing domestic abuse in a one to one and/or group setting
Working alongside women to support them emotionally, practically, and socially
Supporting women to reconnect with communities to lead a safe, healthy, and confident life
Working with colleagues, support mothers and children to participate in activities that boost family bonding, self-esteem, and confidence
Identifying gaps in service and working with the team leader to explore opportunities to close identified gaps

The local communities will be aware of the services available

Working with colleagues across Ross-shire deliver awareness raising events about domestic abuse
Ensure information is available across the area

Other community organisations will be working alongside us to ensure women receive the best possible support

Raise awareness of our services with other organisations
Provide training to other professionals about domestic abuse
Attend local meetings as appropriate

General

Taking personal responsibility for continuing professional development
Working within a feminist framework
Positively promote the feminist analysis of domestic violence and the work of Ross-shire Women’s Aid in the community

· Participate in RWA events and meetings

· Follow RWA policies and procedures

· Participate in learning and development events

· Keep up to date with relevant legislation and practice

Additional Requirements

The responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time-to-time without changing the general character of the level of responsibility entailed. As the geographical area covered by RWA is significant, a current driving license and regular access to a car is essential.
