Join Our Team at Dorset Studio School

Dorset Studio School is a distinctive 11–16 mainstream secondary school located in the heart of the Dorset countryside.

We specialise in land-based education, offering students a curriculum that combines academic rigour with practical, real-world learning across agriculture, animal care, environmental management, conservation, countryside skills and related sectors.

Situated on the Kingston Maurward Estate, our unique setting allows students to experience learning beyond the traditional classroom. Practical, hands-on learning and strong links with industry partners are central to what we do, helping students develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed for future careers.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our school kitchen and provide a high-quality meal service for our students and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive team within a unique school environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with the preparation of food, including washing, peeling, chopping and basic cooking tasks

· Support the setup and service of meals to students and staff

· Ensure food is served in a friendly, efficient and professional manner

· Maintain clean and tidy kitchen and dining areas

· Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment

· Follow all food hygiene, health and safety procedures

· Help with stock rotation and basic kitchen organisation

What We Are Looking For

· A positive and hardworking attitude

· Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment

· Good communication and customer service skills

· Reliability and punctuality

· Awareness of food hygiene standards (training will be provided if needed)

· Previous catering or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential
