We are a family-run, CQC-registered private ambulance company committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and dignified transport for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. We work closely with NHS trusts, local authorities, and partner agencies, upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking experienced Mental Health Nurses for Secure Transport to join our growing team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in mental health, secure transport, healthcare, or emergency services who are passionate about providing person centred, trauma informed care. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, respectful, and supportive transport of service users, many of whom may be in crisis or experiencing complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, dignified, and compassionate transport for individuals with mental health needs
Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff and police
Apply de-escalation, communication, and trauma-informed approaches effectively
Drive and operate company vehicles safely in accordance with road laws and company policies
Assist with mobility, manual handling, and safe securing of service users during transit
Support calm and professional handovers to receiving services
Maintain accurate documentation and records
Ensure vehicles meet cleanliness, infection control, and safety standards
Uphold a respectful, non-judgemental, and caring approach at all times

Person Specification Essential Requirements

Registered Mental Health Nurse
Previous experience working with individuals with mental health needs, behavioural challenges, or crisis presentations
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good understanding of spoken and written English
Strong commitment to compassionate, person-centred care

Desirable (Highly Preferred)

PMVA certification (or equivalent physical intervention training)
Experience in secure transport, patient transport, healthcare, ambulance services, or emergency service

Training

Mental Health Awareness
De-escalation Techniques
Physical Intervention / Breakaway
Safeguarding Adults
Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices

Applicants with current PMVA certification and relevant experience will be prioritised.

Company induction and mandatory training provided
Ongoing support and development opportunities

Working Hours

Flexible
Evening and night availability essential
Early starts and late finishes may be required
Weekend availability

Area of Work

Birmingham and UK-wide
Operations based from Birmingham
Ideal candidates live in Birmingham or within 1 hour travel

Compliance & Checks

Enhanced DBS check required (mandatory for working with vulnerable individuals)
Employment subject to satisfactory references
