Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive People Officer to lead our human resources initiatives and foster a positive, engaging workplace environment. In this role, you will oversee key HR functions, support employee relations, and ensure the effective management of HR systems. Your energetic approach and strong communication skills will drive our talent strategies forward, helping us attract, develop, and retain top talent across the organization.

Duties

Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, including posting vacancies, screening CVs, coordinating interviews, and designing an engaging onboarding experience for new hires.
Performance Management: Oversee the annual appraisal cycle, support managers in implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and coach leadership on managing team development.
Training & Development: Coordinate and schedule training sessions, identify skills gaps across the business, and maintain thorough compliance and training records.
Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that boost employee engagement, communication, and overall workplace satisfaction.
Case Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR), providing sound advice on workplace policies.
Disciplinary & Grievances: Guide and support line managers through lower-to-mid level disciplinary, grievance, and capability procedures, ensuring strict adherence to ACAS guidelines and legal compliance.
Absence Management: Track short and long-term sickness absence, conducting reviews and managing welfare cases.
Payroll Liaison: Collate monthly timesheets, track contractual variations (such as promotions or salary adjustments), and process starters/leavers data.
Data Accuracy: Ensure all data is accurately prepared and handed off to our payroll system/external bureau, and act as the first point of contact for internal staff payroll queries.

Requirements

CIPD Level 5 qualification (or actively working towards it)
2–3 years of experience in a progressive HR generalist role.
Experience of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Direct experience managing lower-to-mid level Employee Relations (ER) cases (e.g., absences, disciplinary, grievances).
Coordinating the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle and onboarding.
Ability to work in a busy and fast-paced working environment.
Ability to show own initiative and problem-solving skills.
