An Opportunity to Lead, Build & Grow

RTC Direct is looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Sales Manager / Head of Sales to take ownership of our sales function and lead the next stage of our growth.

This is a key senior appointment within the business.

We are looking for a hands-on sales leader — someone who can manage and motivate an existing sales team, create accountability, develop major customers and personally help win significant new business.

This is not a desk-based management role.

We want someone who enjoys selling, leading people, winning customers and delivering results.

The Role

You will take responsibility for managing our employed sales team and external sales representatives, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, managing and motivating the sales team
Setting clear individual and team sales targets
Driving sales and gross-profit growth
Managing weekly sales activity and performance
Running structured weekly sales and pipeline meetings
Developing and maintaining a strong new-business pipeline
Identifying and targeting major new customers
Growing sales across existing key accounts
Re-engaging dormant customers
Coaching salespeople and attending key customer meetings
Improving quotation and opportunity conversion
Developing account plans for major customers
Producing accurate sales forecasts
Monitoring individual salesperson performance
Addressing underperformance quickly and professionally
Recruiting and developing sales talent where required
Working closely with product development and management on new opportunities
Personally supporting major negotiations and account wins

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a proven track record in B2B sales and sales leadership.

You should be:

Highly ambitious and commercially focused
Target and results driven
A strong people manager
Comfortable holding a sales team accountable
An excellent negotiator
Confident dealing with senior buyers and decision-makers
Strong with numbers, margins and commercial decisions
Highly organised
Experienced in building and managing sales pipelines
Capable of winning new business personally
Able to coach and develop salespeople
Comfortable making difficult decisions when performance isn’t good enough

Previous experience within FMCG, household products, health & beauty, general merchandise, retail, wholesale or consumer goods would be a significant advantage.

Experience selling into major retailers, wholesalers, distributors and discount retailers would be particularly valuable.

The successful candidate will be expected to create a highly accountable and performance-driven sales operation.

More business from existing customers.
A stronger pipeline.
Better sales forecasting.
Improved margins.
Clear accountability.
And, ultimately, significant profitable sales growth.

Package

Basic salary: £50,000–£60,000 depending on experience

OTE: £70,000–£80,000+

Performance-related bonus

Car allowance
