We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at McMurtry & Harding on a part-time basis (6-month fixed-term contract).

We have practices in Ashbourne and Wirksworth offering a wide range of morning, afternoon, evening and Saturday appointments. All practices have fully equipped operating theatres, separate vet and nurse consultation rooms, in-house laboratories, and comfortable cat and dog wards to help make every pet’s stay with us as stress free as possible.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.

You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications, and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.

Working Pattern

31 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

Perform administrative and reception duties

Book, cancel and amend appointments

Receive cash and card payments

Handle insurance claims and instalment queries

Manage cash exchanges and end-of-day banking procedures

Attend reception team meetings as required

Dispense medications and prescriptions

Keep client and patient records up to date

Monitor clinic emails and action enquiries appropriately
