Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Mental Health Ambulance Assistant, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, timely support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. In this dynamic position, you will assist in the delivery of patient-centered care, ensuring safety and comfort during transport and intervention. Your energetic approach and commitment to mental health advocacy will help make a positive difference in the lives of those in need. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in emergency response, patient care, and mental health support within a collaborative environment.

Duties

Support AMHP's and mental health professionals in managing individuals experiencing mental health emergencies during transportation.
Assist with patient assessment, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the ambulance journey.
Help implement de-escalation techniques and provide emotional reassurance to distressed patients.
Maintain clear documentation of patient conditions, interventions performed, and incident reports accurately.
Ensure ambulance cleanliness, equipment readiness, and adherence to safety standards before and after shifts.
Communicate effectively with healthcare teams, emergency responders, and family members when appropriate.

Requirements

Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis (ABA) techniques or experience working with individuals with autism is a plus.
Background in special education or related fields demonstrating understanding of diverse needs.
Prior experience in patient care or medical settings preferred.
Ability to administer medication safely following established protocols.
Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure during high-stress situations.
Demonstrated compassion, patience, and dedication to supporting mental health and well-being.
Enhanced DBS disclosure is necessary for this post.
