SALARY: \u00a331,998.50 Per Annum

HOURS: 39 per week, Monday - Friday 06:00 - 14:30 (13:30 finish on Fridays)

LOCATION: Days Road

Driver Team Leader- Fixed Term contract from 01/10/2025 until 31/12/2025

Purpose of the role:

Your role will be to drive, and cleanse allocated routes within Bristol and lead a team of street cleansing operatives, ensuring compliance with all aspects of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

\u2022 Drive 3.5 T vehicle, carry out daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate, reporting all defects in line with Bristol Waste Company (BWC) policies and procedures and ensure the condition of the vehicle is cleaned and maintained both inside and out

\u2022 Manually sweep, pushing/pulling a wheelie bin or barrel, empty litter bins, lift refuse sacks onto van and litter pick and dig out weeds as required

\u2022 Collect dilly sacks, cleanse shop fronts and empty litter bins in line with required schedules

\u2022 Allocate and monitor all tasks, prioritise cleansing of individual streets where necessary, proactively identify areas requiring attention and direct the team to ensure completion of routes to agreed standards and within required timescales.

\u2022 Complete route checks and grade work standards of team

\u2022 Report any conduct or performance issues relating to operatives to the Supervisor

\u2022 Drive the safety culture within the organisation, contributing to a positive and safe working environment, directing, and supporting the operatives to carry out the job function in line with BWC's health and safety policy and procedures and ensure equipment used is correct for the task, kept safe and maintained to a good standard

Requirements for this role:

\u2022 3.5 tonne licence

\u2022 Demonstrable ability in leading a team

\u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate the team and liaise effectively with the public and colleagues

\u2022 Sound literacy skills to follow route maps and to comply with driving and health & safety responsibilities

\u2022 Ability to work independently and to use initiative for example, in prioritising streets to be cleansed

\u2022 Demonstrable technical knowledge of the vehicle and equipment to ensure its safe and proper use

\u2022 UK Driving licence which the post holder must present when requested, the post holder must report any issues that affect driving or driving hours to the Team Supervisor
