Full job description

The Scarlett Pub Company is looking for a General Manager to join The Strand in Cheltenham

The Strand has been run by the company for 5 years as a place where people can come and enjoy a drink and socialise with their friends, partners and colleagues. This is a great opportunity for someone to run an incredibly vibrant, industry leading craft beer pub.

We are proud to support UK independent breweries, many of our lines being stocked from local breweries, and we endeavour to find the new up and coming breweries out there.

With ever changing beer taps and a great bottle/can selection- guided tastings, tap takeovers and collaborations with breweries- this is a job for true beer lovers with a passion for locally sourced products!

As General Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, maintaining high and consistent standards, managing the cellar and supporting team development and driving growth of the business, both in the bar and the kitchen.

If you are an existing General Manager looking for a change or an Assistant Manager looking for your next step, then this could be the role for you.

What are we looking for?

- A great knowledge and understanding of beer, wines and spirits.

- You must have some new & fresh ideas and have strong social media skills.

- A genuine passion for providing customers with an excellent experience.

- Knowledge of cashing up procedures and opening up / closing.

- Someone who can manage their team effectively and get the best from them, from doing rotas to hiring and interviewing new staff. And meet the wage targets set out.

- Working alongside the Kitchen Team to promote the food offering and ensuring that high levels of hygiene are maintained along with all other areas of due diligence.

- Have a good working knowledge of GPs (Both Kitchen and Bar).

- An ability to manage your time to the best needs of the business.

- An excellent team player with exceptional communication skills.

- A willingness to gain and develop new skills whilst aiding the improvement of others.
