Job Summary

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant, where your energy and enthusiasm will help keep our kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. In this vital role, you will support the culinary staff by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will ensure that food preparation areas are hygienic and well-stocked, enabling the team to deliver exceptional dining experiences. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospitality setting while contributing to a vibrant culinary environment.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks to support chefs and kitchen staff, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients.
Ensure all dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized in accordance with health and safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, storage areas, and dishwashing stations throughout each shift.
Support stock rotation by organizing supplies and notifying management when stock levels are low.
Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to uphold environmental standards.
Assist with setting up dining areas or service stations as needed for meal service.
Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for everyone.

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen support roles is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is highly valued.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food hygiene standards is advantageous.
Experience working in restaurants, hotels, or other hospitality environments is a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and organization.
Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting colleagues.
Basic understanding of health and safety regulations within a kitchen setting.
