Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Therapist & Hygienist to join our Bedford team.

This is a Saturday-only position, working every Saturday from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

The role will be split between paediatric dental care and adult hygienist appointments, offering an excellent opportunity for a Dental Therapist who enjoys working with patients of all ages and providing both preventive and therapeutic care.

The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills and a solid understanding of oral and dental anatomy. You will assess patient needs, deliver preventive and restorative treatment within your scope of practice, and work closely with our dentists and the wider practice team to provide comprehensive, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide paediatric dental care, including preventive and restorative treatment within your scope of practice
Carry out adult hygienist appointments, including scaling, polishing, oral hygiene instruction and periodontal care
Conduct thorough assessments to identify patients' oral health needs
Deliver treatments within your scope of practice, including fissure sealants, fillings and preventive care
Develop and support personalised care plans based on individual patient needs and goals
Monitor patient progress and liaise with dentists on treatment planning where required
Collaborate with dentists, hygienists and the wider practice team to provide joined-up, comprehensive care
Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation and patient records
Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, treatment options and preventive self-care
Provide a friendly, compassionate approach to patients, including children and nervous or anxious patients
Stay current with developments in dental therapy through ongoing professional development

Qualifications & Experience

GDC-registered Dental Therapist with a recognised qualification in dental therapy
Strong understanding of oral and dental anatomy and physiology
Confident providing care for both children and adults
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build genuine rapport and demonstrate empathy with patients
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied patient caseload effectively
Previous experience in a dental practice setting is an advantage, though not essential

Working Hours

Every Saturday: 9:00am – 2:00pm

This is a regular, every-Saturday commitment, with the working day divided between paediatric dental care and adult hygienist appointments.
