Sales Assistant – Builders Merchant

Location: Gravesend
Job Type: Part time - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7am - 16:30
Salary: Above the nation minimum wage

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and confident Sales Assistant to join our growing builders merchant team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships, and driving new business.

A key part of the role will be cold calling potential new customers to introduce our products and services, generate new business opportunities, and build long-term customer relationships. You'll also support existing customers with quotations, orders, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Proactively cold call prospective customers to generate new business.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Prepare quotations and process customer orders.
Follow up on sales enquiries and quotations.
Identify opportunities to increase sales across our product range.
Work closely with the sales and warehouse teams to ensure excellent customer service.
Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity.

What We're Looking For

Confident and professional telephone manner.
Previous sales or customer service experience is preferred.
Comfortable making outbound cold calls and handling objections.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Good organisational and computer skills.
Experience within the building supplies, construction, or builders merchant industry is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
