Job Description

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple civil engineering, groundworks and highway projects from pre-start through to completion. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically valued between £50,000 and £750,000.
Plan, programme and coordinate projects to achieve agreed timescales and budgets.
Lead and support Site Managers, Engineers and site teams.
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
Manage NEC4 contracts, including Early Warning Notices (EWNs), Compensation Events (CEs), programme management and contractual compliance.
Monitor project costs, identify risks and implement mitigation measures.
Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers.
Liaise with clients, local authorities, consultants and stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Attend progress meetings and provide regular updates on programme, cost and performance.
Oversee project documentation, reporting and record keeping.
Identify and secure opportunities for additional works where appropriate.
Ensure projects are completed to the required specification and successfully handed over to the client.

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within civil engineering, groundworks or highways.
Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts and contract administration.
Experience delivering Section 278 highway works and local authority projects.
Experience managing projects within live school environments.
Strong commercial awareness and budget management skills.
Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications

HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
SMSTS.
CSCS Manager Card.
First Aid at Work.

Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
