Full job description

Applicants must be able to work at least 2 sleep shifts.

The job role will involve managing a 16+ Residential Units, a team of support workers, within a residential setting, ensuring that the section runs smoothly. The ideal candidate will have significant previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour and must have a relevant Level 3 Diploma. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to carry out any other tasks required by the Manager that are commensurate with the level of responsibility.

Experience in care provision at a level that reflects the responsibilities of the post applied for

Computer literate
Understanding of legislation concerned with care provision.
NVQ or Diploma 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent
At least 2 years’ experience as a supervisor or senior care worker or other role within a care providing organisation.
Be willing to work towards your Level 5 qualification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The work of a Unit Coordinator can, at times, be challenging and will include, but is not limited to duties such as:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welfare and Safeguarding duties

To prioritise the safeguarding, welfare and health and safety of our young people above all other duties and be familiar with statutory safeguarding and child protection needs and requirements as well as per our policies.
To Act as Safeguarding Lead for the designated Unit
To Act as Health and Safety Lead for the designated Unit
Ensure that all Risk Assessments, Health and Safety Checks are updated and maintained.
To be part of an effective support team, working under the direction of the Manager to maintain the highest possible standards of support to all young people in our residence.
To ensure that house rules are followed, and any breaches by young people are recorded and receive the necessary sanction.
To monitor guests to the residence, making sure all guests have left on time.
To ensure that young people are up in the morning in plenty of time to leave for college or have suitable activities planned for the day i.e., support young people looking for employment or educational courses.
House Coordinator 's must alert the Manager on issues that need immediate or prompt attention.

2. Management of teams and individuals

Responsible for Recruitment and coordination of the induction of staff in the service through effective use our Safer Recruitment Policy and completion of the new starter checklist.
Manage and support staff in line with our Policies and Procedures, including supervision, absence management and performance issues.
Responsible for staff coverage in the Unit.
Setting Targets for workers to achieve outcomes for the young people.
Coordinate effective team working through good communication and regular team meetings.
Lead in identifying individual and team learning, and development needs and liaise with Head Office to meet these needs in conjunction with learning and development staff.
Responsible to keep staff training matrix up to date.
Effectively identify and contribute to learning and development activities including meeting organizational qualification targets.
Provide leadership in the coaching and mentoring of staff.
Conduct supervision of staff working in the home.
Manage staff annual leave in cooperation with service manager if required.
Monthly submission of staff Unit hours in line with the daily log.
Ensuring that Key Working targets are met, reports sent on timely manner and all Service User documents are uploaded and up to date in Share Point.
Delegation of key tasks to staff members under their management.

3. Manage and co-ordinate day-to-day activities within the service.

Ensure that all services are delivered within the framework of our core values and in line with our Policies and Procedures.
Ensure that services are of a standard which meet and exceed standards set by regulatory bodies, including the National Care Standards and contractual obligations.
Deploy staff in a way which maximizes cost efficiency whilst meeting the demands of the people we support.
Liaise with external professionals, individuals and families as required to ensure that the needs of the people supported are reviewed regularly and plans developed so that we continue to meet their needs.

4. Ensure good practice within services.

Ensure that appropriate person-centered support arrangements are in place for everyone supported and reviewed, as per policy.
Implement and monitor quality assurance strategies and documents, actively promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Actively promote and support inclusion, ensuring that individuals are supported to participate in community and work opportunities according to their interests and wishes.
Ensure health and safety requirements are met within services and comply with Health & Safety Legislation.
Work with the Manager to plan and implement service development.

5. To establish and maintain effective communication.

Develop and maintain effective communication systems within the team.
Ensure regular team meetings are held.
Ensure regular planning and reviews are carried out for all individuals supported.
Ensure effective representation and joint working with key agencies, families, and individuals.
Establish and maintain processes for facilitating new referrals.
Promote the organization in a positive manner.
6. Additional Duties
Participate in the On-Call system
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
Undertake additional activities such as attendance at events or conferences and involvement in project groups to further individual, service, and organizational development.
Participate in household cleaning duties and management of cleaning schedule to ensure duties are divided fairly with all staff.
Any other reasonable duties as requested by Service Manager/ Head of Service/ Director

Essential

Requirement: to be available for various shifts on Rota running Monday-Sunday, to include at least two sleep-in shifts
