Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a Level 3 practitioner who is passionate about the impact of quality early years provision. The successful candidate must be willing to be flexible and work in a small team to create big impact. The role involves working closely with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure high standards of care and education. The role is in a small playschool in the beautiful village of Singleton, near Chichester. We are a term time only setting and looking for a practitioner who is available to work part time and/or bank cover between the hours of 8.00am -3.30pm.

We are looking for an individual who loves playing, being outdoors in the stunning South Downs, enjoys supporting children to learn through nature and play and work closely within a small team.

Singleton Playschool is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references, identity checks, Enhanced DBS clearance (including children's barred list check where applicable), verification of qualifications and other pre-employment checks.

Duties

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging activities that promote children's learning and development in accordance with early years frameworks.
Supervise children during play, meals, and rest periods, ensuring their safety at all times.
Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social skills.
Support children's emotional well-being by providing reassurance and guidance during their daily routines.
Collaborate with colleagues to organise activities, outings, and special events that enhance the children's educational experience.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns.
Manage behaviour positively, using appropriate strategies to promote good conduct and social interaction.
Demonstrate leadership by mentoring new staff or interns as required, ensuring team cohesion and professional development.

Requirements

Proven experience working with children within nursery or early years settings.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development stages, and childcare regulations.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent are highly desirable. Working towards Level 3 considered.
A caring attitude with patience, organisation skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare in accordance with statutory guidelines.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
