Support Worker required in Stowmarket, Suffolk

Job purpose

I am looking for someone to help me with independence and to support me both at home and within the community!

About me

I am an 8-year-old boy who is non-verbal and has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I live with my mum, dad and older brother who also has ASD. I have challenging behaviours, but I am an active, energetic boy who loves to be around people!

I am looking for a support worker to help me with day-to-day things and to have one-to-one time with me to support me with independence!

I am looking for someone kind to support me both at home and out in the community including trips to the park!

You will be working in a smoke and pet free environment. The successful candidate will be responsible to my mum as the employer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Personal care and supporting with toileting and changing

· Support when outside of the home as no awareness of danger or route planning

· Preparing meals for me.

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria

· Good approach and understanding of autism.

· No photos are to be taken of me and discretion is necessary

· Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle, for commuting and as part of the role

· Patient

· Kind

· Able to work independently

· Able to manage difficult behaviours

· Good communication

· Reliable

· Good time management

Desirable Criteria

· Experience with autism

Summary terms and conditions

· Hours, days and times of work: Up to 3 hours available per week with opportunity for more weekday hours in school holidays.

· Pay rate: £14.50 per hour

· Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).

· Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.

· Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

· Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.

The post is subject to the following

· Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List(s) Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.

o If you have been convicted of a criminal offence, please send these details to SIL in a separate email or in a sealed envelope together with a stamped addressed envelope. This will not be shared unless you are shortlisted for the post.

References: If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if you have not been employed
