1. Safeguarding & Child Protection

Ensure the safety and welfare of children at all times in line with safeguarding policies.
Recognise and report concerns immediately, following escalation procedures.
Maintain professional boundaries while offering emotional security and consistency.

2. Building Positive, Therapeutic Relationships

Develop trusting, stable relationships with children through consistent, respectful interactions.
Use trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches to support emotional and behavioural needs.
Promote resilience, self-esteem, and social skills through daily engagement.

3. Behaviour Support & Crisis Management

Implement behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and de-escalation strategies.
Use approved behaviour management models (e.g., PACE, restorative approaches).
Respond calmly to challenging situations and incidents, modelling appropriate behaviour.
Record and reflect on incidents in accordance with policy.

4. Daily Living Support (Non-Personal Care)

Support children to develop independence and life skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, routines).
Assist with planning and participating in recreation, education, hobbies, and community activities.
Encourage healthy routines including school attendance, sleep patterns, and self-care awareness.

5. Key Working & Care Planning (If Assigned)

Act as a key worker for allocated children, maintaining detailed case notes and progress updates.
Contribute to personalised care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans.
Attend and contribute to reviews, meetings, and multi-agency discussions.
Advocate for children’s rights, views, and best interests.

6. Recording & Professional Documentation

Complete daily logs, incident reports, safeguarding notes, and communication records accurately.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection legislation.
Ensure records reflect the voice of the child and meet regulatory standards (Ofsted).

7. Teamwork & Communication

Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, external professionals, and families.
Participate fully in handovers, team meetings, and reflective practice sessions.
Share observations and updates to ensure consistent care approaches.

8. Health, Safety & Compliance

Follow health & safety procedures, checks, and risk assessments within the home.
Maintain a safe, nurturing, and homely environment.
Adhere to organisational policies, legislation (e.g., Children’s Homes Regulations), and Ofsted requirements.

9. Professional Conduct & Development

Act as a positive role model, demonstrating patience, empathy, and reliability.
Maintain professionalism during challenging behaviour and emotionally complex situations.
Undertake mandatory training and engage in continuous professional development.
Reflect on practice and seek support when needed.

Pay: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
