Community Centre Manager

Are you an experienced, motivated leader who is passionate about making a positive difference in the community?

We are looking for a dynamic and committed Community Centre Manager to lead our organisation through the next stage of its development.

About the Role

As Community Centre Manager, you will be at the heart of our organisation, taking responsibility for the effective day-to-day management and continued development of our fully refurbished Community Centre.

Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will provide both operational leadership and strategic input, ensuring that the Centre is well managed, financially sustainable, compliant and responsive to the needs of the local community.

This is a varied, hands-on role offering a genuine opportunity to make an impact. You will lead and support staff and volunteers, oversee the delivery and development of services and activities, identify new sources of funding and income, and build strong relationships with community groups, funders, partners and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Provide effective leadership and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Community Centre.
Work with the Board of Directors to support the Centre’s strategic direction and future development.
Manage budgets, financial controls, expenditure and financial reporting.
Identify and develop opportunities to increase income and improve the Centre’s long-term financial sustainability.
Research funding opportunities and prepare high-quality grant and funding applications.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, health and safety, safeguarding and governance requirements.
Recruit, manage, support and develop staff and volunteers.
Ensure that Centre facilities, services and activities are delivered to a consistently high standard.
Develop and maintain effective administrative, operational and reporting systems.
Promote the Centre and encourage increased use of its facilities by individuals, community organisations and other users.
Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, partners, local organisations and the wider community.
Represent the Community Centre professionally at meetings, events and external forums.
Identify opportunities for new activities, services, partnerships and community initiatives.
Regularly report to the Board of Directors on performance, finances, operational matters and future opportunities.

Person Specification Essential

The successful candidate will have:

Experience of successful fundraising, grant applications or other forms of income generation
Proven management experience within a Community Centre, community organisation, charity, social enterprise or similar environment.
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers.
Sound financial management, budgeting and reporting skills.
A good understanding of governance, compliance, safeguarding and health and safety responsibilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational and administrative abilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
The confidence to work independently while maintaining a strong working relationship with the Board of Directors.
Experience of building productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, organisations and community groups.
A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
A genuine commitment to community development and improving opportunities for local people.
