About Bridge House

Bridge House is a transitional residential service supporting young adults aged 18-30 with learning disabilities and autism to develop the skills, confidence and independence required to move towards more independent living.

Our approach is person-centred, therapeutic and focused on achieving meaningful outcomes. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, structured and nurturing environment where both the people we support and our staff team can thrive.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our growing team.

This is a key role within the service, supporting the Registered Manager to maintain high standards of care, lead by example and help create a positive, structured and consistent environment for both the young adults we support and the wider staff team.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference, confident in leading shifts and able to support colleagues to deliver outstanding support. The successful candidate will be a role model for good practice, promoting independence whilst ensuring high-quality, person-centred support is delivered at all times.

Responsibilities

Lead shifts and provide day-to-day guidance, support and direction to the staff team.
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating high standards of care, professionalism and person-centred practice.
Promote consistency across the service, ensuring policies, procedures and agreed ways of working are followed.
Deliver high-quality, person-centred support tailored to individual needs, strengths and aspirations.
Support young adults to develop daily living skills, social skills, emotional resilience and confidence.
Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with young adults, families, advocates and external professionals.
Support individuals to access education, employment, volunteering, training and meaningful community activities.
Implement and review support plans, risk assessments and positive behaviour support strategies, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
Ensure accurate, timely and high-quality record keeping in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Complete delegated audits, observations and quality assurance tasks, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Contribute to maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice guidance.

Experience - Essential Requirements

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
Experience working in a residential care or supported living environment.
Ability to lead shifts and support other team members.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Excellent written record-keeping skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Requirements

Experience in a senior or leadership role within social care.
Understanding of safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act and person-centred planning.
Experience supporting young adults transitioning towards greater independence.

Hours: Full-time (including a mixture of 8:00am–8:00pm and 2:00pm–8:00pm shifts, with alternate weekend working).
