Job Overview

Start a New Career in Teaching – Use Your Construction Experience

Partners in Bristol, part of the City of Bristol College, is looking for an experienced construction and bricklaying professional ready to step off-site and into a rewarding teaching role.

If you’ve worked in construction and want a more stable, long-term career where you can pass on your skills, this could be the ideal next move. No teaching qualification? No problem—we’ll support you to gain one.

About the Role

You’ll deliver practical, classroom-based training to help learners gain construction knowledge, achieve their CSCS cards, and move into employment. This is a hands-on role where your real-world experience will directly support people into jobs.

What You’ll Be Doing

Delivering construction skills training (entry-level to intermediate)
Supporting learners to prepare for and pass CSCS tests
Practical bricklaying sessions
Assessing learners and tailoring support to individual needs
Providing mentoring, encouragement, and clear feedback
Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment

Who This Role Is Perfect For

Experienced tradespeople (e.g. labourers, bricklayers, site operatives)
Those looking to move away from physically demanding site work
Anyone wanting regular hours, job stability, and career progression
Individuals interested in teaching, coaching, or mentoring
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts simply and effectively.
Demonstrated organisational skills to manage multiple students and sessions efficiently.
Previous teaching or tutoring experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire learners of all ages.
A recognised qualification in education or the relevant subject area is advantageous but not mandatory. This position offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about education and helping others succeed through personalised instruction.
