Role overview
Reporting to the Credit Control Team Leader, this role is responsible for managing day-to-day credit control activities and supporting the Group’s cash collection processes. You will ensure accurate and timely reporting, proactive debt chasing, and effective resolution of queries to support healthy cash flow and working capital management.
In addition to core credit control duties, you will support the application of Credit Control policies and contribute to the maintenance and improvement of systems and processes. The role also involves providing clear and accurate updates on debtor positions to support effective financial oversight, ensuring processes remain compliant, efficient, and aligned with Group requirements.

Key Accountabilities
Debt & Cash Management
· Ledger & Reporting: Oversee the end-to-end production of the credit control ledger, including generating and issuing accurate Broker statements.
· Cash Collection & Allocation: Coordinate cash collection aligned to the ledger; process and accurately recognise cash receipts within the Group’s broking and accounting systems.
· Working Capital Support: Produce summary aged debt reports and provide insightful analysis on the working capital cycle to support the Credit Control Team Leader.
· Direct Debit Management: Maintain full ownership of the Direct Debit process, including the management of the dedicated inbox and the resolution of customer queries.
· Team Continuity: Ensure adequate coverage within the team during periods of absence to maintain consistent debt collection momentum.
Governance & Process Improvement
· Policy Ownership: Ensure Credit Control policies and procedures are applied consistently across the Group.
· Process Innovation: Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting practices and internal controls.
· System Governance: Ensure Group systems are maintained accurately and updated in a timely manner, while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance
· Financial Guidance: Contribute to company objectives by providing advice and guidance on credit control matters to the finance team and other internal stakeholders, supporting effective decision-making and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained
· Business Alignment: Reinforce the Company’s vision and values through professional conduct and support broader business requirements as needed.
Skills And Knowledge
· Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
· Plain English: Ability to write clearly and concisely, avoiding unnecessary jargon.
· Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly regarding reconciliations and data analysis.
· Planning & Prioritisation: Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise tasks effectively.
· Technical Proficiency: Moderate to high level of knowledge of Microsoft packages, notably Excel.
· Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and consistency, with a focus on applying controls to the quality and content of outputs.
· Resilience: Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
· Working Style: Proven ability to work as part of a team or independently as required.
· Core Competencies: Solid understanding of company and market knowledge, customer needs, and communication.
· Core Competencies: Competence in the management of information, planning, organising, and negotiation/persuasion.
Experience and Qualifications
· Professional Accounting Standards: Sound understanding of accounting standards and operational processes.
· Financial Compliance: Working knowledge of financial reporting, accounting, and compliance requirements.
· Financial Analysis: Ability to contribute to management reporting and financial analysis.
· Risk & Controls: Understanding of risk management principles and the application of internal controls.
· Taxation: Foundational knowledge of taxation principles.
