Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Childrens Register Manager to oversee the registration and administrative processes related to children's programmes. The ideal candidate will possess strong relationship management skills, experience in programme administration, and the ability to supervise a team effectively. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of children’s activities while ensuring a welcoming environment for families and staff alike. The Childrens Register Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate records, managing programme logistics, and supporting organisational objectives.

Duties

Manage the registration process for children’s programmes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data entry and record keeping
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, guardians, and staff to foster trust and engagement
Supervise administrative staff responsible for registration tasks, providing guidance and support as needed
Oversee programme management activities including scheduling, resource allocation, and compliance with organisational policies
Coordinate with programme coordinators to ensure seamless delivery of children’s activities
Monitor registration trends and prepare reports to inform planning and decision-making
Ensure the registration area remains welcoming, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
Provide training to new staff or volunteers involved in registration or programme support tasks

Requirements

Proven experience in relationship management within a community or organisational setting
Strong administrative experience, including data management and record keeping
Demonstrable management or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead a team effectively
Experience in programme management or coordination is highly desirable
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse stakeholders including children, parents, staff, and external partners
Competent in using office software applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and word processing tools
Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to team efforts
A proactive approach to problem-solving and organisational challenges

To help you with your application the Requirements to Become an Ofsted Registered ManagerFor children’s social care services in England – based on Regulation 28 of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and official Ofsted guidance1. Mandatory Qualifications

Required: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or accepted equivalent)
If you do not already hold it: you must enrol within 3 months of appointment and complete within 18 months to remain registered
Equivalents considered: social work degree, nursing, or other relevant leadership qualifications – you must provide evidence of how they match the Level 5 competencies

2. Mandatory Experience

Minimum 2 years working in a regulated children’s residential home, within the last 5 years
Within that: at least 1 year in a role involving supervision or line management of care staff
Note: Experience in fostering, special schools, youth work or adult care does not count towards this specific requirement

3. Fitness and Suitability ChecksYou must prove you are a fit and proper person:

Enhanced DBS check including Children’s Barred List check
Two professional references (one from your most recent employer)
Full employment history with explanations for any gaps
Health declaration confirming you are physically and mentally fit to manage
Proof of right to work in the UK
No history of misconduct, safeguarding concerns, or regulatory sanctions that would make you unsuitable

4. Application and Assessment Process for Ofsted

Submit Form SC2 (Apply to be associated with a children’s social care service) to Ofsted
Attend a mandatory Fit Person Interview – Ofsted will test your knowledge of:
Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Safeguarding, mate crime, cuckooing and modern slavery
Statement of Purpose, incident reporting and notification duties
Staff supervision, behaviour management and care planning
Registration is personal to you – it does not transfer between people or services

5. Essential Knowledge and Skills

Deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Knowledge of transitions, care leaving support and statutory entitlements
Ability to lead teams, manage risk and drive continuous improvement
Working knowledge of health and safety, medication management and complaints procedures
Commitment to young person-led practice and equalities

6. Ongoing Requirements

Maintain your Level 5 qualification and complete mandatory CPD (including safeguarding updates)
Keep Ofsted informed of any changes to your role, address or circumstances
Remain compliant with all regulations throughout your registration
If you stop managing for more than 12 months, you may need to re-apply and refresh your evidence

Because of the role type, you will need to meet the requirements to be shortlisted.

Pay: £50,000.00 per year
